How we hold this space.
Keep AED welcoming, respectful and constructive. Share ideas, support one another and help us build a community that celebrates African excellence.
Lead with respect
Members come from every corner of the continent and the diaspora. Disagree with ideas, never with people. Personal attacks, harassment, hate speech and discrimination of any kind have no place here.
Share things worth reading
Questions, opportunities, lessons learned, introductions, wins worth celebrating — all welcome. Repeated advertising, chain messages and unrelated promotion are not.
Be honest
Do not pass off other people’s work as your own, and do not share information you know to be false or misleading. If you are unsure about something, say so.
Protect people’s privacy
Do not share another member’s email address, phone number, photographs or private messages without their permission. Contact details on AED profiles are only visible when a member has chosen to publish them.
Keep media appropriate
Images and short videos should be your own, or clearly credited, and suitable for a professional community. Sexual content, graphic violence and anything unlawful will be removed.
Support the newest members
Somebody joining today should feel able to ask a basic question. Answer generously, welcome introductions, and make room for people at the start of their journey.
If something is wrong
Every post and every reply carries a Report option, and you can hide any member from your own feed at any time. Reports go only to AED administrators, who can remove content, take down images and videos, lock a discussion, or pause a member's posting access. The member you report is never told who raised it.
